DIY Cleaner for Keeping Your Windows Sparkling
When you’re cleaning your home, do you think about the products you use? What they’re made with and where they’ve come from? Nowadays we’re all looking for the healthiest alternatives away from chemicals. And we all LOVE DIY. So what’s better than making your own, non-toxic, all-natural window cleaner??
Why make the switch from store bought to homemade window cleaner?
- First, making your own window cleaner will save you MASSIVE amounts of money. Many of the ingredients used in a DIY window cleaner are drastically cheaper than a brand name, factory produced, shipped overseas, cleaner.
- Second, the chemicals in store bought cleaners do more harm to your body than good to your windows. With ingredients like ammonium hydroxide (which causes respiratory damage, skin irritation, and vision problems) it’s not even worth it at the end of the day.
- Other downsides to the store-bought cleaners include artificial fragrances, colors and dyes.
DID YOU KNOW: Vinegar is an acid, so it can cut through dirt, bacteria, and grease. This makes it a great alternative to chemical cleaners.
Here’s what you’ll need for your DIY window cleaner:
2 tbsp rubbing alcohol
2 tbsp white vinegar
10 drops of essential oils
1 cup warm water
1 tbsp cornstarch
Pour the above ingredients into any spray bottle, shake, and you’re good to go on cleaning your windows!
Please remember: acidic products are not good for natural stones/wood/and other specific materials. Please research for your surfaces and always test on a small section before cleaning.
